Oppenheimer: a Larger Than Life Movie Befitting the Man

Oppenheimer

Christopher Nolan’s latest film, Oppenheimer, is an upcoming biopic about the man behind one of history’s most controversial accomplishments. Cillian Murphy stars as J. Robert Oppenheimer—the “father of the atomic bomb”—leading a cast that includes Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon and Rami Malek in this story adapted from American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin.

Who was john j Oppenheimer

John J. Oppenheimer was an American theoretical physicist and professor of physics at the University of California, Berkeley. Oppenheimer is widely known for his role as the scientific director of the Manhattan Project, the World War II effort to develop the first nuclear weapons, which made him one of the most influential figures of the twentieth century.

Oppenheimer: the man who brought the sun to Earth

Oppenheimer’s scientific research and leadership in the Manhattan Project helped to usher in the atomic age and fundamentally alter the geopolitical landscape of the world. His efforts to contain the spread of nuclear weapons led to the creation of the United Nations Atomic Energy Commission, which ultimately created the Treaty of Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. Oppenheimer was also a prominent advocate of international control of nuclear weapons, and his vision of a world free from the threat of nuclear war was influential in the development of nuclear arms control.
